In episode 56 of The Charity Charge Show Stephen speaks with Beverly Hamilton, Interim CEO of 3 Day Startup, whose mission is to make entrepreneurship accessible.
Beverly Hamilton is also the Co-founder of Nonprofit Ombuds. Beverly brings over twenty years of leadership experience from across different industries. She holds a Ph.D. in Higher Education Administration from UT Austin and is a member of the International Ombudsman Association.
Here is a snippet from Beverly on the podcast:
“When you start a new nonprofit, or if you’re still a new enough organisation, your organisation doesn’t have a credit score, and that makes it hard for it to stand on its own. You have to be personally liable for the finances. Luckily, I was in a position to back the organisation for a certain amount of time, but it’s important for the organisation to be able to grow its own financial reputation. That is what is really helpful.
To me, it doesn’t matter what you’re choosing, whether it’s a bank, all the things you choose as a nonprofit is sort of loaded because banks are also then potential funders, partners, and supporters. So all of that is tough, whereas, this is easy (Charity Charge). It’s nice to have something that is actually easy when you’re working in nonprofits and so I appreciate that as somebody who, you know when you’re a nonprofit, you’re doing a million different things, you’re trying to do them all. This is one thing where it’s you do the application, and then it’s easy.”
