Speed bumps on life’s road can produce an unexpected change of pace, but Cameron Harris always adapts with patience and a smile on her face.

Moving away from her hometown of Short Hills, New Jersey to attend college in Virginia confronted Cameron with a whole new world. She found no shortage of friends, though, and quickly claimed school to be her second home.

Upon meeting more and more new people, Cameron’s perspective continued to expand. Her mind’s horizons widened. Her view of life brightened. Kindness and gratitude are her role models, and she hopes to enlighten others through the actions they inspire.

This past summer, Cameron interned for the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research where the value of philanthropy became immediately evident: “The amount of time, money, and energy one donates is significant,” Cameron says, “but the clincher is whether or not you want to make an impact.”
